It has been a while since my last post but as most of you know a lot has happened =) On August 7th at 1:07 pm, I gave birth to a beautiful 8lb 3 oz baby boy name Anderson Bradley Sartain. I was very lucky to have an easy labor and fast delivery! The story is quite funny! I had been to the hospital twice that week, once Tuesday and then again Thursday thinking I was in labor, but my contractions were to far apart for them to keep me. I was so frustrated and very miserable! Well Friday at work I had very strong contractions all day and I timed them all day! But no luck still they were still 10 to 15 minuets apart. Saturday morning at 2:30 extremely strong contractions woke me up from a dead sleep and I began timing them, I was in the living room because the last few weeks of my pregnancy my couch was the only place I could sleep. By six that morning I could no longer be quite and I must say I scared the crap out of Bradley because he woke up to my screaming! We called my mom and she came down to the house to help us get everything together and by 6:45 we were off to the hospital because my contractions had jumped from 7 minuets to 3 minuets apart! Bradley showed us his best nascar impression on the way to the hospital because people would not get out of our way and I was in so much pain I'm sure I was freaking him out! We did finally make it to the hospital and I was taken straight back to a room and hooked up to all the monitors. My contractions were still every 3 minuets and I was so tired from laboring since 2 that morning! My nurse came in and examined me and told me the best news ever! I was 4 centimeters dilated, which is what you must be to stay! So about 15 to 30 minuets later I got my epidural, which is something I will never forget as long as I live! The man who administered my epidural was a 6 foot tall Russian man that looked like Dr. Kevorkian! I was so terrified because he was scary and I hate needles, but I was in so much pain I didn't care anymore about it hurting as long as it made my contractions stop! He gave me my epidural (which I did not feel) and told me it would kick in in about 20 minuets. After he left my family came back in and we all just talked about the baby and waited for me to make more progress. About 45 minuets after I got my epidural my left side was completely numb, but I could still feel pain on my right side and it was gradually getting worse, my nurse then rolled me over to my right side so the medicine could drip that way. I layed there for about 20 more minuets and the pain just kept getting worse so the anaesthesiologist had to come back in and give me an "updose" of drugs to try and get my right side numb. Luckily that updose worked and I went completely numb and by 12:30 I had gone from 4 cm to 7cm! at 12:45 my nurse came back in and told me I was ready to push, so my family left and Bradley and momma got on either side of me to help me push since I could not feel my contractions. Since I was a week early delivering Anderson, my doctor was on vacation, so Dr. Kounce (a WONDERFUL doctor) delivered me. I had to push 3 times to get Anderson into position and then 3 times to deliver him and it was very quick and easy. I never knew I could love someone as much as I love Bradley, but as soon as I heard my sweet baby cry I knew I was hooked! They layed him on my chest and I was overwhelmed looking at the sweet baby I had carried for 9 months. Bradley watched the whole delivery and he and mom were such a big help! Our hospital stay was awesome and everyone at Methodist Germantown was so amazing! I love my sweet man so much and cannot believe he will be a month old tomorrow.
Mine and Bradley's lives have really started now that we have him home and are learning more and more about our special man. He will be 4 weeks old tomorrow and it doesn't seem like time has gone that fast! I have so enjoyed my time at home with him and plan to enjoy the last 2 weeks before I have to go back to work. Bradley could not be a better father, he is so awesome with Anderson and it came so natural to him. I am so blessed to have him in my life and will be forever grateful to him for giving me Anderson. We cannot wait to watch him grow and learn and play! He is a gift from God and we love him more than anything!
